Grabbing Tickets for Zagreb

Home to inventions such as the torpedo, the parachute, Tesla, & the fingerprinting technique, the spirit of disruption and penchant for discovery is part of Croatia’s DNA. With an opportunistic geography as a gateway between Western Europe & the Balkans and an upcoming admittance into the European Union, Croatia is quickly becoming much more than just a vacation hot spot.

Zagreb has attracted the attention of GOAP (Geeks On A Plane) where they invited Dave McClure and his team to visit their passionately growing local market. Great people and teams, wonderful ideas and projects with the potential to make meaningful contributions and changes globally – all this is what makes this New Croatian Economy so interesting. And hot!

Pioneers Festival celebrated the strong support of their community of over 3,000 Likes via FaceBook by giving away two tickets and accommodations to the best overall “wall share,” of our contest. We received great responses so far and are thankful to have such an enthusiastic and international group of people who are passionate about startups and pioneering! One entry in particular not only caught our eyes, but also the attention of our community on FaceBook.

Ilona and Matea were raising money on indiegogo in order be a part of the Pioneers spirit! Honestly, we were flattered and proud to see such dedication. It’s one thing to want something, but to take full actions towards the goal, is another level of ambition. The community support Ilona and Matea received was tremendously crazy! Messages, links, emails and more poured into the office, grabbing our attention to bring these two young female entrepreneurs from Croatia to Vienna.
