INiTS – Innovative Startups Vienna region – 10 years learnings and impact

During the past 10 years INiTS has seen about 1000 business ideas, has helped to develop about 1/3 of them further and asked critical questions (eg. concerning intellectual property, value proposition and business model), has selected 119 entrepreneurial teams of all industries to really incubate and accelerate (ICT, life sciences, cleantec, HiTech of many other areas such as chemistry, mechatronics, sensorics, …). In this workshop we will share some insight about what we have learned, what are the “Austrian factors” for success (or failure) and what impact these businesses have had and shall have in the future.

Brandl & Talos – How to raise start-up capital? – legal insights
Raising capital is one of the most challenging tasks when founding and expanding a start-up. Thomas Talos and Roman Rericha, both experienced start-up and M & A advisers, compare different forms of financing from a legal perspective and give practical insights into the most critical issues in negotiations with business angels and venture capitalists: What should founders be aware of and what are typical contractual provisions? How do investors strive for disproportional influence in the decision making process of the company? What are pre-emption, drag-along, tag-along and non-compete clauses and under which conditions are they acceptable? In addition, the speakers present a short overview of different exit strategies and discuss their legal implications.

Kapsch – The human factor of future mega cities
There is no greater uncertainty than the future. However, by projecting certain existing trends a couple of years into the future, we can perhaps shed some light on what's to come. The percentage increase of the urban population, in comparison to the world's population as a whole, is certainly one of the most important trends of our time which will result in massive challenges for modern cities. Kapsch Group focuses in this workshop on questions like, how can enormous multitudes of people in future mega cities work together, live together and consume products and services as efficiently as possible without drowning in a sea of noise and endless mobility challenges?

Microsoft – Innovation talk about gesture control and face tracking with the Kinect for Windows
In this talk Seewald and Pfeiffer will demonstrate and explain the possibilities of gesture control and face tracking with the Kinect for Windows. Seewald and Pfeiffer will present their own gesture recognition software called “Universal Remote for Kinect for Windows”. It is available since May 2012 and offers five gestures that are well known from the use of tablet-PCs. Those gestures are intuitively clear. The software is fully configurable and can control any application. One side project, which is based on the Universal Remote and combined with the face tracking possibilities of the Kinect for Windows is called “Magic-Mirror”. This art installation has been recently shown at the Vienna city hall during the game-city/F.R.O.G event. Furthermore Seewald and Pfeiffer take a peek into the future of gesture control in education, art and culture, marketing and sales, entertainment, robotics and architecture.
